Customer and challenge
The customer is a global life insurance company operating multiple offices across Japan, all dependent on reliable wireless connectivity for daily operations. Before engaging TopTech, similar nationwide support projects incurred high costs because vendors typically dispatched skilled engineers from Tokyo to regional locations, substantially increasing travel and labor expenses.
By partnering with TopTech, the customer leveraged a nationwide network of engineers and partners, enabling local dispatch instead of central deployment from Tokyo. This approach resulted in significant cost savings, reducing overall project-related field service costs by more than 40 percent while maintaining consistent service quality.
Project overview and scope

The Aruba Access Point (AP) upgrade project across 50+ offices of the customer throughout Japan covered more than 150 APs in total. The objective was to standardize configurations, improve wireless performance, and ensure a consistent, supportable network environment across all locations.
The project included all targeted sites nationwide, with each location hosting an average of 3–4 ceiling-mounted APs. Careful scheduling ensured that upgrades were completed with minimal disruption to the customer’s business operations.
Implementation strategy
The rollout followed a predictable and disciplined implementation plan:
Target of 2 sites per day
Average of 3–4 APs per site
Estimated 3–4 hours of work per site
This structure allowed efficient coordination with local branches and the central IT team, with clear expectations on timing and impact at each location. TopTech’s ability to assign locally stationed engineers meant that this schedule was achievable without incurring excessive travel time or costs.
Outcomes and business impact
The project delivered a uniform, centrally manageable Aruba AP environment across all covered sites in Japan, improving reliability and reducing configuration drift.
By utilizing TopTech’s nationwide network of engineers and partners, the customer avoided the traditional model of sending Tokyo-based specialists to every location, cutting field deployment costs by over 40 percent while still achieving the target of upgrading more than 150 APs within the March–June 2026 timeframe. This combination of technical standardization and optimized resource deployment provided both operational stability and clear financial benefits to the global life insurance company.
